Lions and tigers but no bears….

Local BMW rider Wayne Garrison is organizing a day ride to the Exotic Feline Rescue Center (east of Terre Haute) on Saturday 4/25.  The $10 admission at the center goes towards supporting the care and feeding of these beautiful BIG cats.   The ride will leave Shapiro’s Delicatessen at around 10am.  You can also contact Wayne (wgwhiterabbit@sbcglobal.net) or MSTA member Theresia Shearer (the_shearers@earthlink.net) for more information.

I can’t begin to tell you how impressive these cats are.  It’s not like going to the zoo and you are 50 feet from their sterile concrete environment.  As you walk through the grounds of the center you are just a few feet and field fencing away from these animals.  To read more about the center and its mission go to http://www.exoticfelinerescuecenter.org.

Wondering what kind of riding style to expect on this ride? For those of you that like to test your tire limits by strafing the back roads of Brown County, there aren’t a lot of twisties between here and there. It’s mainly state highways and county road between farms.   Wayne does lead spirited rides, but don’t plan on any foot peg dragging on this group ride.  It is  just a great way to spend most of the day on a bike exploring part of the state you may not have ridden before.  As with any group ride – ride your own pace.
